Lower Back Pain

A clinically grounded evaluation for persistent lower-back symptoms, functional limitations, and questions raised by prior imaging or care.

Lower-back pain that has outlasted every conservative option.

Chronic lower-back pain is often managed through medication, injections, nerve blocks, ablation, or eventually surgery. A regenerative evaluation asks a different question: what appears to be generating the pain, and is there anything reasonable left to consider that supports the surrounding tissue rather than simply numbing symptoms?

Does this sound familiar?

Who tends to
call us.

You might recognize yourself here

  • Persistent lower-back discomfort has reduced activity, exercise, work, or sleep
  • Symptoms may travel into the hip or leg or change with sitting, standing, or walking
  • Therapy, medication, or injections have not provided the clarity or durability you hoped for
  • You have imaging findings but still need help understanding what may—or may not—be relevant

What we are not

Soma is not an emergency spine service. New weakness, loss of bowel or bladder control, saddle numbness, fever with back pain, major trauma, or rapidly worsening symptoms require urgent evaluation. We also refer when a neurological, spine, or surgical specialist is the appropriate next step.

Your evaluation

Understand the full picture.
Then build the right plan.

An assessment helps determine what is known, what still needs clarification, and whether Soma is an appropriate setting for your next step.

  1. History, symptom behavior, and neurological screening
  2. Functional and clinical assessment
  3. Relevant imaging or records when indicated

Common questions

Useful answers.
Without overpromising.

Is anything injected into my disc?

No. Soma does not perform intradiscal, epidural, or intrathecal delivery. If an injection-based approach is considered, your provider will explain the proposed location, purpose, risks, and alternatives before anything is scheduled.

I have had a fusion. Does that rule me out?

Not automatically, but it changes the evaluation considerably. Bring your operative report and recent imaging so your provider can understand the surgical history and determine whether Soma is an appropriate setting.

What if the pain is actually coming from my hip?

That happens often enough that the evaluation considers both areas. If the hip appears to be the primary driver, the plan should address that rather than assuming the lower back is the source.

Are stem cells FDA-approved for back pain?

No. The FDA states that regenerative medicine therapies have not been approved to treat orthopedic conditions such as back pain or disc disease.

When should I seek urgent help?

Seek urgent medical attention for new weakness, loss of bowel or bladder control, saddle numbness, fever with back pain, major trauma, or rapidly worsening symptoms.
