Shoulder Pain

A careful starting point for shoulder discomfort, restricted movement, prior injury, and questions about available care paths.

Shoulder pain that has narrowed what you can reach for.

Rotator cuff pain, impingement, and shoulder arthritis have a way of quietly shrinking your range—until reaching for a seatbelt or a top shelf becomes a decision. A regenerative evaluation can help determine whether there is a reasonable option to consider between physical therapy and the operating room.

Does this sound familiar?

Who tends to
call us.

You might recognize yourself here

  • Reaching overhead, behind you, or across your body has become uncomfortable
  • Sleeping on the affected side is difficult or no longer possible
  • Strength, range of motion, or day-to-day function has declined
  • Physical therapy, medication, or injections helped only partly—or progress has plateaued

What we are not

Soma does not provide emergency evaluation for acute trauma. A visible deformity, sudden loss of strength, chest pain, fever, or severe symptoms after an injury require prompt medical attention. When imaging or examination points toward orthopedic or surgical care, we will recommend that path clearly.

How the evaluation works

An evaluation first—not a program.

For shoulders, we review your imaging and examine how the joint actually moves—what hurts, where it catches, and how much range you have lost compared with the other side.

  1. An in-clinic provider evaluation. History, examination, a review of your imaging, and a conversation about your goals—all at our Sandy clinic.
  2. Comprehensive blood work. Ordered before any plan is finalized, because inflammation and metabolic health help shape what is reasonable to attempt.
  3. Image-guided delivery. When a procedure is part of the plan, it is performed under ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance as standard—not as an add-on.
  4. Supportive therapeutic modalities. In-clinic therapies and appropriate at-home support are selected for your plan rather than sold as disconnected extras.
  5. Personalized nutrition and supplement guidance. Support for the parts of recovery that happen between visits to our clinic.
  6. Scheduled follow-up visits. Built into the plan at purposeful intervals so progress can be reviewed and next steps can be adjusted.

An assessment helps determine what is known, what still needs clarification, and whether Soma is an appropriate setting for your next step.

  1. History and symptom pattern

Common questions

Useful answers.
Without overpromising.

Can this help a full rotator cuff tear?

A complete tear is often a surgical problem, and we will not pretend otherwise. Your provider will review your imaging and clinical findings and explain which category you are in before anything is recommended.

How long does the visit take?

Plan on approximately an hour for the evaluation at our Sandy clinic. The goal is to leave enough time to review your history, imaging, movement, and questions without rushing the process.

Will I be able to use my arm afterward?

Activity guidance depends on the procedure and your clinical findings. Some soreness may occur after treatment, and your provider will provide written instructions about movement, activity, and any support you may need during recovery.

Can you tell from the website which treatment I need?

No. Similar shoulder symptoms can have different causes. Recommendations require an individualized clinical evaluation.

Is a result guaranteed?

No. Response varies, and no outcome can be guaranteed.
