Preparing for an evaluation

What Happens at a Stem Cell Consultation at Soma Health in Sandy, Utah?

A clear look at the free RN conversation, the $197 medical-director evaluation, and what happens before you make a treatment decision.

Exploring stem cell therapy can bring up plenty of questions. Is it appropriate for your condition? What does an evaluation involve? What will it cost—and do you have to decide right away?

At Soma Health in Sandy, Utah, the process begins with a free conversation with a registered nurse. If further evaluation makes sense, the next step is a paid consultation with our medical director. You receive a recommendation and proposed pricing before deciding whether to proceed.

Start With a Free Consultation With Our Registered Nurse

Your first appointment is a chance to explain what you’re experiencing and what you hope to improve.

Our registered nurse asks about your symptoms, medical history, previous treatments, and goals. This initial conversation helps us understand your situation and whether a more thorough medical evaluation may be worthwhile.

The free consultation is an initial screening and discovery conversation. A treatment recommendation follows the medical director’s evaluation.

What Should You Bring?

If you have them available, bring:

You do not need to have all these records to start the conversation. If some items are unavailable or no longer current, do not let that delay you. Come in and talk with us, and we can determine what information is actually needed. Depending on your situation, our medical director may recommend updated labs or imaging before making a recommendation—but only when necessary.

The Medical Director Evaluation Costs $197

If you choose to continue, you’ll meet with our medical director for a more detailed evaluation.

This appointment includes a discussion of your medical history, a physical examination, and review of available labs or imaging. The $197 fee includes basic labs, a comprehensive evaluation, and the clinical work required to develop a detailed recommendation tailored to your situation.

If you select a treatment package, the $197 can be applied towards your package.

You can learn more about the people involved in your care on our medical team page.

The Recommendation May Be to Take Another Path

Our goal is to help you understand your options—not simply to sell you a treatment.

Your evaluation may lead to a proposed regenerative treatment plan. It may also lead to a recommendation for further testing, another type of care, or a surgical evaluation.

For example, a significant tendon or ligament injury may require a different approach. The recommendation depends on your individual findings and medical assessment.

Discuss Evidence, Risks, and Uncertainty

Before deciding, you should understand the proposed treatment, its regulatory status, the evidence supporting its use, potential risks, and alternatives.

Soma offers stem cell therapies that have not yet been approved by the FDA. We do not promise or guarantee results. Individual responses vary, and treatment may not provide the improvement you hope for.

Ask questions about how the available evidence applies to your particular condition. Experiences from other patients can be part of a discussion, but they do not establish what your outcome will be.

Our stem cell care page provides an introduction to our approach.

Receive a Treatment Plan and Package Price

If treatment is recommended, we explain the proposed plan and package price before you commit.

Depending on the recommendation, a package may include the proposed biologic treatment, supplements, prescribed peptides, or supportive in-clinic services. The combination varies by patient and should be explained in your individual plan.

You can take the information home, review the pricing, and decide how you want to proceed. There is no expectation that you make a treatment decision during the consultation. If the recommended therapy is appropriate for your condition and you decide to proceed, we can move promptly to schedule your next steps and begin your care plan.

What Happens If You Decide to Proceed?

Once you choose to move forward, we schedule treatment and explain any preparation steps.

Preparation commonly begins a couple of weeks before treatment, although the timing and recommendations depend on your plan.

Our preferred follow-up approach extends for up to three months after treatment, with monthly appointments to review progress and address concerns. Your care team will explain which visits and services are included in your package.

When appropriate, we may also recommend working with a mobility and strength coach to address movement patterns and supporting muscle strength.

Begin With a Conversation

You don’t have to arrive knowing which treatment you want.

Start by telling us what has been happening, what you have already tried, and what you would like to change. The consultation process is designed to help you understand whether further evaluation at Soma is a sensible next step.
